about the Hollywood Piano Company

Greetings,

I'm often asked, "why did you choose to be in the piano business?" The answer is simple, I love pianos and bringing music into people’s lives.  As far as I am concerned, I have the best job in the world and I love it.  Every day I get to help people select a piano, which is exciting because I know the difference that a piano can make for a budding musician or the joy it can bring to the person who has waited years to find “their” piano.  As the pianist, composer and piano teacher in our family, I have the fun task of personally selecting each and every piano brand we sell based on what I like as a pianist and what I’ve learned working in a piano rebuilding shop.  I’m confident each brand that we sell offers the finest value in each of their respective categories.

The Treibitz family are the owners of Hollywood Piano CompanyThere is so much advertising noise in the world today. As consumers we are bombarded companies proclaiming to be the biggest, proclaiming to be the best. (Often a legend in their own minds!)  Some even claim that they alone are the “good people” and only what they sell are the good quality products and all other products and all other companies are suspect for various and sundry reasons. This is what we call negative selling, and when you hear it, a red flag should go up in your brain.  Last time I went shopping for an automobile the salesperson tried to tell me how bad his competitor’s car is instead of telling me how good his product is.  I wound up saying to him, “I also sell high end products and I am completely turned off by your approach.” I said, “Tell me what’s good about you and your products and services, not what’s bad about the guy down the street.” Needless to say I didn’t get a car from him. This is the kind of approach that makes purchasing a large ticket item an often unpleasant experience for us.

At Hollywood Piano our staff is made up of expert musicians, teachers and piano technicians. You won’t get the high-pressure sales approach here, or that negative approach of knocking the other guys and their products. Here you’ll get an informational approach to selling where we tell you what we have to offer with factual answers, and if we ever do speak of competitive product, it will be only to draw comparisons by using factual specs, material differences, and tonal differences to draw a real comparison to our products. I invite you to compare our positive, upbeat, knowledgeable, respectful, and thoughtful presentation to that of the competition’s and experience our difference. Our goal is to treat you the way that we would want to be treated.  Our different approach is why many of Southern California’s most prestigious teachers, tuners, music schools and our happy customers by the thousands consistently recommend the Hollywood Piano Company and why the Better Business Bureau grants us their highest possible rating.

As consumers we care about three things: getting the best piano for our needs, paying the right price, and feeling confident the company we are dealing with will deliver exceptional customer service. I am proud to say that since 1928 the Hollywood Piano Company has been doing just that for individuals, families and the entertainment and film industries. Our one year low price guarantee is unmatched in the industry giving you back 133% of the difference if you find the same piano for less. Our selections is second to none with more pianos under one roof than any other single store.

We have been recognized for quality and customer service and not by paid on-air radio personalities, but by news organizations like the Los Angeles Times, Daily News, television news channels 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and consumer reporters such as Allen Mendehlson, Tammy Taylor, Rick Romero, Jennifer York, Trisha King Crumley, Deborah Newmark, Gerri Cook and Suzanne O’Connor.

We are members of the National Association of Music Merchants, Music Teacher’s Association, and numerous Chambers of Commerce throughout the Southland. I serve on the Board of Governors of the Glendale Symphony, and as a board member of Rachmaninoff Piano Competition.  I am proud to say that many of Southern California’s tops performing orchestras depend on us for many of some of their piano needs, including the L.A. Chamber Orchestra, The Glendale Symphony, and the Burbank Philharmonic, to name just a few.

Hollywood piano is a Mother, Son, Daughter team who are all musicians with a passion for what we do and supporting the arts and music education.

My mom, Rhoda Treibitz, the CEO of the company, is an accomplished singer, actress, teacher, and director. She toured the country in many Broadway musicals and has played some of the most famous stages in the world in theater and as a nightclub performer. Rhoda has given back to the musical community by teaching musical theater to children at two of the area’s top colleges. In 2005 she performed at the opening night festivities for a new recital hall owned by a famous Italian piano builder at his request with a new one woman show accompanied by me on the piano.

My sister, Cheryl Fox, the Vice President of Administration, is a graduate of the Boston Conservatory of Music. Cheryl is an accomplished singer, dancer and actress. Cheryl has a long list of film and TV credits and chances are you have seen her on some of your favorite shows of the past. Why the past? Well, Cheryl is also the proud mother of two very musical children, Tyler and Raquel, both of who have spent many an hour in the piano store where they proceed to “help”. Running our back office and having two young children hasn’t left Cheryl much time for performing lately, but she will again.

I’m the President of our company. I’ve been in the piano business since I was 10 as a “Hammond Organ Piper Boy”.  I’ve worked in every facet of the business from sales and marketing to hands on rebuilding in a piano rebuilding shop. There is not a major piano being made today that I haven’t sold new at one time or another. My knowledge of pianos is vast and I am often called upon by colleagues for information or advice about all brands of pianos and the industry in general.  My joy is also as a composer, pianist, and teacher. I put myself through college teaching piano and had 40 students. Over the years I’ve taught hundreds of children and adults to play the piano in both private and group lessons. I‘ve been a musical director for shows and TV shows, I’ve been a rehearsal pianist, arranger and voice coach. One of my biggest passions is musical theater. As a composer/lyricist and author I’ve won many national writing awards and have written numerous musicals that have played off-Broadway and at such venues as the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. My latest musical is “Short Tenors and a Dead Soprano” which was recently presented as a reading in New York City. See my personal website for more details.

As you may have guessed by now Hollywood Piano is not your usual piano store and our family are not your usual piano store owners. Our commitment to music is personal. We delight in helping everyone. It doesn’t matter to us if it’s the Colburn School with the purchase of a half dozen German Seiler pianos, or Santa Monica College with the purchase of an all new Roland state of the art piano lab, or the family of a young beginning student in search of an affordable pre-owned piano or a home piano rental for one dollar a day.  Every customer and every customer’s needs are equally important to us.

Our quest is this, to match each and every client with the right piano for his or her needs, to provide the highest level of customer service, to conduct the transaction with integrity and to thereby turn our clients into friends as we welcome them to our extended Hollywood Piano family.

Sincerely,

Glenn Treibitz
