In honor of our 80 year anniversary, Hollywood Piano has restored our original 80 year old historic neon sign that sat outside on our building at the corner of Hollywood and Highland Ave. We had it taken down piece by delicate piece, cleaned and rebuilt and then installed inside our Hollywood Piano store in Burbank. This sign comes from the famous age of neon and is believed to have been made by the Claude Neon Company who was famous for making the very first neon sign in Los Angeles for a Packard car dealership in 1923.
This sign was so bright that a special very dark plexi-glass cover had to be made to tone down the neon. The cover is so dark that when the sign is turned off you can barely tell that there is a sign underneath it. Because the neon was so delicate the original transformers has to be used because newer ones might break the neon glass. This job was a labor of love for Don McAdams and his crew who removed and then re-made this historic sign. Come visit us and see this piece of original Hollywood History.
