Burbank, CA – JUNE 21,2018 – The red carpet was rolled out and the paparazzi were on hand to capture the excitement of Hollywood Piano’s 90th Anniversary celebration. The large crowd enjoyed a cocktail hour followed by a Mexican Style buffet. Filling the air was the jazz stylings of the Kirk Andre Wilson quartet. The crowd was filled with many actors, musician, pianists, teachers, models and designers including Legendary Musician Chris Montez, top selling recording artist Lynn Stanley, Peggi Blu from American Idol, SoulTrain dancer Carole Creekmore, 3-time Emmy award winning photographer William Kidston, blues singer JC Gafford, The Piano Guy from “Glee” Brad Ellis to name only a few.

Actress, singer producer Becky Baeling Lythgoe co-emceed the evening with Glenn Treibitz of Hollywood Piano. The Honorable Emily Gabel-Luddy Burbank Mayor presented a proclamation form the City Of Burbank. Councilman Vrej Agajanian brought a heartfelt message from the city of Glendale. Adam Schiff sent the head of his district office Pamala Marcello to present a commendation and letter from the congressman. Alexis Lewis represented Mayor Eric Garretti presenting a personal letter and proclamation from the City Of Los Angeles. The Pasadena Symphony and Pasadena Pop’s Scot Vandrik read a letter from Michael Feinstein and presented an Honorary Luminary Award. Maestro Kerstein of the Burbank Philharmonic presented an award from the orchestra. The executive director of the Set Decorators Society of America Gene Crane presented a congrtatulatory award from the Set Decorators. Letters were read from Quincy Jones, Lt Governor Gavin Newsom, Senators Dianne Feinstein & Kamala Harris, and congressman Adam Schiff. Performances were done by classical pianist Rene Vanasse, Professor Mario Merdirossian, Jazz Artist Sabine, and recording artist Cecil Rameriz.
The Hollywood Piano Foundation presented the first ever founders awards given in memory of Hollywood Piano founder Abe Tishkoff. Appropriately enough his sons Eddie and Jerry were the first recipients of this award. Their daughters Diane Tishkoff and Nancy Tish Laemmele accepted on their behalves.
The Hollywood Piano Foundation also presented the first two of what will be annual “Piano Hero” awards. Each year two people will receive this honor one not known primarily for music and entertainment along with someone known for music. The award criteria is a notable individual who through their passion for music & piano have enriched lives, stirred emotions and inspired public interest
in the piano. This year’s awards were presented to Stevie Wonder and to the Honorable Mayor Eric Garcetti of Los Angeles. At the end of the evening the attendees were treated to a beautiful commemorative bag and commemorative coin minted for the 90th anniversary.
